It is possible to get 18 commendations per day plus 3 commendations per week, bringing the time to get the mount down to about 11 days of luck and persistence.
First, make sure you are doing the Victory in Tol Barad quest each week. This drake drops off the 2nd boss of The Vortex Pinnacle. If your faction controls Tol Barad, then there are 12 daily quests that you can pick up at Baradin Hold.
When you die, you resurrect near the flag you were attacking. There are three locations with siege engines. You can park the siege engines by the towers to extend the timer, giving you longer to win the three flags.
Make sure you're doing those, too. Funny thing is every other dragon i have roars accept this one. I guess they forgot to put a sound bite in for it. Too bad considering I spent alot of time earning the marks for it :. Comment by clarkeyboy I just got mine today, the grind was well worth it, as it looks fantastic. Very nice expansion signature drake, sure enough we will see alot of them around soon, but it is a lovely looking creature. I don't understand why people kick up such a stink about these things "not being rare". No mount is rare anymore, with the possible exception of Ashes of Al'ar and Invincible.
Working on the Spectral Wolf now. I currently have commendations so I'll get it the drake tomorrow if Horde manages to get TB back, which I hope. I'm an old vanilla player that started playing again when Cata came out, so my stable of mounts is not impressive at all, so I'm really looking forward to butchering my manticore and feeding it to this beauty soon.

This drake looks even better than it did before, and is actually IMO now more impressive looking that most of the stone drakes. I'd post a screenshot, but my laptop doesn't run well on high graphics settings so it'd look bad. Comment by I'm a Tauren and have noticed the 'saddle sinkage'. Looks to me like the position is the same but the saddle is actually larger. Also noticed the ribbons around the neck have switched places or have gotten tangled during hover and flight phases. Comment by Probably the best mount in shadowform. Aeonaxx, hmmm 18 days in a row so far, only scanned him once at the very first day of deepholm dailys, coming into the zone, soaring for approx. Comment by therealchumm People who think this mount is easy to get obviously haven't got their Sha'tari Skyguard rep to exalted. That grind takes less than a day to get a Netheray whereas this takes a lot longer.
